Arie, the brushstrokes showing the various planes of the face are amazing ! I love this painterly style !

Yes me too, but it's strange how it works, you almost have to force yourself to stop, because you can go over and over it until it's perfect...but it ruins the expression lots of times. Thanks for your input Brian, always very much appreciated and cherished.

About Arie Van der Wijst

Arie Van der Wijst

I love to create and explore. I have been commissioned to do acrylic paintings and drawings of animal portraits, landscapes, birds, pets and many other subjects over the years. My work is in different collections in several states of the U.S. and in several countries in Europe. I've been working a lot on digital paintings with the use of a so called drawing tablet. Basically it's about the same process than traditional painting, but it gives you more freedom in my opinion. And lately I've gone back to one of my old loves, photography. And in this digital era there's so much to explore and learn, one of the things I found out was that I love local wildlife photography, so birds and any animal I can find in nature. Thank you for visiting...
